1. Service description
DeepDNA is a genomic knowledge API and MCP server for developers and AI agents. Today it provides public, cited records on genes, variants and drug–gene pairs through the API at /api/v1 and the MCP server at https://deepdna.ai/mcp, which any MCP client, including AI assistants that support custom connectors, can connect to (together, the “knowledge endpoints”). DeepDNA does not parse DNA files or laboratory reports on its servers, and offers no endpoint that does.
DeepDNA also publishes deepdna-mcp, a free, open-source package (MIT licence) that runs on the user’s own computer and reads a raw DNA file there. Nothing from the file is sent to DeepDNA’s servers; what the package returns becomes part of the conversation with the AI model the user’s client uses, under that provider’s terms.
The service is provided by DeepDNA, based in Spain, under Spanish and EU law. DeepDNA no longer offers the consumer DNA report it planned before September 2026: no file can be uploaded to DeepDNA and nothing can be bought today.
1a. Use of the API
By calling the API you agree that its responses are educational information, not medical advice, diagnosis, prescription or dosing; that anything you build on it must present them the same way and must carry the disclaimer included in every response; that you will not use it to make or support clinical decisions without a qualified professional; and that you will not send personal data to the knowledge endpoints, which are designed to receive none.
No fee applies today. The knowledge endpoints, the MCP server and the local package are free.
2. Eligibility
The website, the knowledge endpoints and the MCP server ask for no account and no personal data. Their content is educational and written for a general audience, including teenagers aged 13 to 17; it is not directed at children under 13.
To enter into an agreement with DeepDNA, you must be at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 16 (see section 11 of our Privacy Policy).
3. User responsibilities
When using DeepDNA, you agree to the following:
- No personal or genetic data in requests. You will not send a genotype, a DNA file, health information or any other personal data to the knowledge endpoints or the MCP server. They take gene symbols, rsIDs and drug names only and are designed to receive no personal data.
- Lawful use. You will use the service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms.
- Accurate information. Any information you send to DeepDNA (for example in an email) must be accurate and current.
- No misrepresentation. You will not present DeepDNA responses as medical diagnoses, clinical test results, or professional medical advice to any third party.
4. Data handling and privacy
Your privacy is fundamental to how we built DeepDNA. Our data handling practices are described in full in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Key principles:
- We process no genetic data today. The knowledge endpoints and the MCP server refuse a genotype and store no request body or IP address; how MCP lookups are counted is described in section 3 of the Privacy Policy.
- We handle the personal data we do receive, such as an email address someone gave us through the website before 25 October 2026, or sends us by email, under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- We set zero cookies and use no third-party trackers.
- We do not sell, share, or monetise your data in any way.
For any data-related enquiries or to exercise your GDPR rights, contact us at privacy@deepdna.ai.
5. Payment and refunds
There is no purchase available today. Payment and refund terms for paid API usage, including any right of withdrawal under EU consumer protection law (Directive 2011/83/EU), will be published with the API pricing.
6. Disclaimers
Specifically, you acknowledge and agree that:
- DeepDNA responses are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Decisions about a medication stay with the prescriber.
- A record describes what a guideline, a drug label or a study says about a gene, a variant or a drug. It is not a statement about any person: DeepDNA never gives a genotype result, a metabolizer status, a diagnosis or a dose.
- The science of genomics is evolving. Current understanding of genetic variants and their associations may change as new research is published.
- DeepDNA does not claim that its knowledge base is complete or exhaustive. It covers a small, curated set of genes, variants and drug–gene pairs; a drug or variant that is not covered may still have a pharmacogenomic interaction.
- DeepDNA is not a medical device as defined under EU Regulation 2017/745 (MDR) and has not been certified as such.
7. Intellectual property
All content, design, software, algorithms, text, graphics, and other materials on the DeepDNA website and in DeepDNA responses are the intellectual property of DeepDNA or its licensors, protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws.
Each record cites its sources. The guidelines, drug labels, studies and databases it cites (for example CPIC, DPWG, PharmGKB/ClinPGx, dbSNP and ClinVar) remain the work of their authors and are governed by their own licences and terms; DeepDNA’s summaries do not change those terms.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to:
- Access and use the DeepDNA website for its intended purpose
- Call the knowledge endpoints and the MCP server, directly or through an AI assistant, and show or quote their responses, keeping the cited sources and the disclaimer that comes with each response
You may not:
- Resell or republish the knowledge base as a whole, or a substantial part of it, as your own dataset
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code or algorithms of the DeepDNA platform
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access or extract data from the DeepDNA website, except as permitted by our robots.txt file or through the API and the MCP server
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- DeepDNA is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
- DeepDNA shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or health outcomes, arising from or related to your use of the service.
- Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to these terms or your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months preceding the claim or €100, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be lawfully excluded or limited under applicable EU or member state law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DeepDNA, its team members, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your breach of these terms
- Your misuse of the service
- Your sending of personal or genetic data to the service in breach of section 3
- Any third-party claims related to your use of a DeepDNA response
10. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Spain, as a member state of the European Union.
Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Spain, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection provisions in your country of residence that may grant you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
If you are a consumer habitually resident in the EU, you also benefit from the protections of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, in accordance with EU Regulation 593/2008 (Rome I).
11. Modifications to the service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the DeepDNA service at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.
Any future pricing will apply only to usage after it is published.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Notify by email of material changes anyone who has given us an email address
- Post the revised terms on this page
Your continued use of DeepDNA after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree with the updated terms, you should stop using the service.
13. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or severed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
14. Entire agreement
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and DeepDNA regarding your use of the service. They supersede any prior agreements or understandings, whether written or oral. For how records are curated, see our Methodology page.
